The Most Popular Candle Scents For Men
Candle Scents For Men
With many men embracing their metrosexual side (a term rarely even used these days as we have evolved to the age of the new modern man. And, unlike advertising of yesteryear… he likes more than fast cars and a pack of smokes), it’s no surprise that candles are something we have learnt to enjoy, not just as part of a romantic getaway or date, but to indulge in as a solo venture. So even less surprising are the range of candle scents for men.
Other than spas and churches, candles are often pictured alongside the image of a woman having a much-deserved soak. Well, baths aren’t just for women and neither are candles. Candles provide a calming ambience but are also great for setting a romantic mood or your own private zen room.
Where to start?
With many self-care and relaxation products geared and marketed toward a male audience, it can end up a bit on the overwhelming side. Now there is absolutely no reason you have to choose a product that is deliberately aimed at men (duh, it’s 2023 guys!).
However, if you are looking to embrace candles and want to play it safe with slightly more musky or woody notes, we’ve listed a few scents to look out for.
Note: these aren’t candle scents that you might expect to find as a standalone ingredient, but rather they may be complemented alongside other ingredients. For example, oud & bergamot, or English apple and Sri Lankan cinnamon.
The Most Popular Candle Scents For Men
Pine: Pine fresh isn’t just a scent for your bathroom; pine is great for adding that energising lift, whilst taking you out into the woodsy outdoors.
Cedar: Cedar provides a profoundly aromatic, woody scent that is perfect for long winter nights and mancaves. It is often found in a variety of men’s products.
Sandalwood: as above, is another staple ingredient in men’s products. Another classic woody, earthy scent that is often a popular go-to.
Leather: leather jackets and new cars. Leather is distinctive for its deep, rich, strong engulfing smell. If you love earthy scents, then much like tobacco, you’d be on to a winner with this.
Citrus: bergamot, lemon, orange, grapefruit, neroli etc. – perfect for invigorating the senses and stimulating the mind. If you prefer a bit of a fresher, lighter scent to give your room more of an uplift, then you should definitely check these out.
Tobacco: If you like a deep, rich, earthy vibe then tobacco as a scent is a great accompaniment for a night either to yourself or a relaxing evening in with loved ones.
Oriental / Spice: cinnamon, ginger, clove, cardamom etc – these add warmth, cosiness and seductive twists. They are also popular during the festive seasons. If you like a good cuddle or just want an evening of comfort, these are great at providing some added sensuality.
Amber, tonka bean, oud etc – for more complex, mysterious, rich, and alluring vibes, these notes will really add some bas, especially when perfectly paired with other scents. Some of these scents may not be for every man
Final thoughts
The above list is not exhaustive as there are MANY scents that are mixed in to entice the modern man. Patchouli, vetiver, mint, white musk etc.
Vanilla – a generic and widely used ingredient – may be paired with tobacco, to allow for a sweet, smoky mix. Scents, as we know, are subjective. While there may be some smells that are preferred more by particular groups, each to his or their own.
Candles may appeal based on the mood you want to create, or quite simply how they smell. They’re not for everyone but when the right scent matches the mood, it’s amazing what some wax can do!
