Lush Dream Cream Review:

I'm a big fan of Lush. It’s rare my partner and I pass a store without being pulled in by its scent. This product was actually recommended for dry hands (of which I'm not ashamed to admit I suffer from to some degree). As a moisturiser, I can happily report it does what it needs to and does it pretty damn well. But given Lush’s reputation for beautifully smelling (and cruelty-free) products, and as a scent lover myself, what’s it like as a smell?

The ingredients are oat, rose, cocoa and lavender – so even before smelling, I knew it would have a calming aroma to it. Given the ease with which lavender works its magic, it was no surprise to find that it did just that – albeit in small quantities – when opened. However, it’s not the most pleasant of scents; there is a musky overtone to it which – for those that aren’t a fan of overpowering, lavender based smells – gives it a slightly ‘off’ and ‘earthy’ feel about it, reducing the potency of the lavender.

Rose as an ingredient can be very hit or miss with some people and that’s no different here. It lingers there, not quite balancing well with the lavender in my opinion. It’s not completely unbearable, but no matter how much I use it, it’s never something I forget is present in the formulation.

Lush Dream Cream

On the whole, I can forgive Lush for this as it does give it a more natural appeal. Besides, as a lotion, it is soothing, heavy in consistency but also easy to apply and unbelievably effective in combating dry hands.

I tested other – more expensive – products, which didn’t even do half the job. So, while it may not be the most enticing smell, I get pot after pot for its quality and direct approach to the job at hand (no pun intended!)
