Lacoste Pour Homme - Review
Lacoste Pour Homme is the ultimate throwback to early adolescence for me. This was the first ‘proper’ fragrance ever purchased and done on an impulse.
To date the bottle still remains with me, and for a splash of nostalgia, I’ll pop the bottle top and smell my way back to days long gone. The batch however, has long since been revamped. Here's my review on the latest version I could get my hands on.

Lacoste Pour Homme – Review
Scent wise, this is woody aromatic. Top notes include bergamot, grapefruit, apple and plum. At its heart are cinnamon, pink pepper, juniper and cardamom. And we’re finished off with Rum, Musk, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Labdanum and Cedar.
Does it compare to the original batch I have? No. The 2003 version I have (given, it’s nothing more than droplets) is woodier and more enigmatic.
On initial burst, this 2023 bottle I have feels fruitier and more synthetic. I personally don’t get on with it and prefer being stuck in 2003. However, I am trying to give it its dues as a fairly average scent to get along with.
It’s also not a scent that’s ‘loud’; it feels moderately inoffensive so could just about slip under the radar. Also, it’s not problematic in as far as longevity isn’t the strongest here and the notes eventually feel subtle. This makes it easy to use as an everyday scent.
It could easily work well for date night, casual use, work or adding a bit of base as a layered scent. I found myself torn as to whether it suited cooler or warmer months best. Back in the day, I'd easily have said evening (if I knew what the hell I was doing with fragrances back then).
On the downside, unless you get it from cheaper retailers online, as it is now harder to come by in shops, the price can average now at around the £50 mark for 100ml. I recommend retailers like Fragrance X. Sadly though, I wouldn't go out of my way to get a bottle again. It's just not worth it.
My verdict:
“A classic, refined scent by Lacoste. Like a quickie, it won’t stay with you for hours on end but it's okay enough to warrant a try”
