Christmas Outfits 2023

Christmas brings a lot of things - it can stir up deep emotion, give people that time to spend with family, provide an excuse to overeat or set people on the easy path to excess spending. It’s also that time of novelty jumpers, snoods and one piece outfits - whether you love them or not.

Ironically, I’m more of a Halloween person, but as my partner is a Christmas lover, I owe much of the outfits to her. The two Christmas jumpers that I purchased myself involved a Santa pissing in the snow and one which was a sarcastic nod to Brexit. So, you can imagine how they both went down in group events. I haven’t included them only as I can’t find them. I’m genuinely not sure if I packed them away at my mother’s house or if they were “misplaced”.

Here’s some of the Christmas outfit looks I’ve donned so far:

1. GREMLINS CHRISTMAS JUMPER

I love the film Gremlins, which - despite what many say - I see as a Christmas film. I wore a lot of slippers during the holidays, which, as per the photo, usually involved The Grinch. This Christmas jumper is one of the few featured on here that I actually bought for myself.

2. MAXED OUT GRINCH

Well, if you're gonna do something, you might as well go full hog. I am sure I was smiling over something that only the Grinch would find hilarious. So, I see it as Grinch from head to toe. Very comfortable and warm. I wore this one a lot, and did a lot of mix and matching.

3. SANTA'S LITTLE HELPER

Because sometimes a snood is all you need. I had shorts on underneath, not that you can see them. This little elf snood packed a lot of much needed heat. Great for lounging - or creating my own little sweat box to help offset against the amount of food consumed. A new edition for the year.

4. THE I'M NOT A CHRISTMAS JUMPER, JUMPER

Aside from the Gremlins jumper, this is one of the only other tops in this list that I purchased myself. And actually, it came by way of a shopping trip years ago to Hollister - a brand I'd never worn, nor really had much interest in. The partner used to be an avid follower of the brand and was interested in their holiday sale. While I paid for it, technically she picked it: "It's kinda Christmassey without being too Christmassey... That could be you". This isn't a Christmas jumper at all, but it's got the spirit, I guess.

5. SIGN MY SHIRT, SANTA

Simple, easy to the point Santa shirt! More practical and breathable, if that's your thing.

6. THE GRINCH THAT STOLE CHRISTMAS, AND DANCED ON YOUR PARTY FOOD

Another practical Christmas shirt, although one you have to spend a while staring at to realise what it is. And of course, the little green man in the Santa suit is of course The Grinch himself. Probably happy you're drinking wine mixed with his piss or something...

7. DISNEY AT CHRISTMAS

I like this jumper. Perhaps because it's grey and a colour I find easy to match with most things. Nice fit, and full of Disney cheer. I may occasionally be a Grinch, but I can't say no to Disney.

8. JACK ATTACK

A Christmas for me is one that couldn't be without The Grinch, my special black Christmas tree and Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas. A Christmas present that I've actually worn at other points of the year. One of my faves.

9. THE GRINCH THREW UP AT CHRISTMAS

Well this one speaks for itself really - I look like Grinch vomit. And I love it. Grinch galore. The shirt is surprisingly light and airy for a fitted shirt, which I tend to find feel quite claustrophobic. Another new edition for this year, which will happily make its rounds again and again.

See you for 2024. More Grinch. More Jack. More Garish Patterns.
